The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ (FHFNZ) carries on the work of legendary Kiwi, the late Professor Fred Hollows, who championed the right of all people to high quality and affordable eye care. We work in the Pacific where four out of five people that are blind, don't need to be as their condition is treatable or preventable. We restore sight to the needlessly blind and train and support local eye health specialists to provide eye care services in their own communities. About the vacancy

The Programme Quality Manager (PQM) is responsible for programme quality across FHFNZ's Pacific programme, leads the programme quality team, provides strategic advice to programme managers, colleagues, and partners, and supports the design and implementation of FHFNZ's strategy.

This role will see you leading a team of functional specialists across the broad spectrum of programme quality, including monitoring, evaluation, reporting, learning and impact (MERLI), information and research, resource mobilisation, and data capture and management.

People leadership is an important component of this role, as well as providing support and coaching to your direct reports, you will inspire growth and collaboration within the team. You will lead coordination of team roles and functions for maximum efficiency and synergy of outputs.

You and the PQ team will collaborate across the FHFNZ and partners to foster a culture of learning, accountability, a focus on impact, and effective dissemination of learning, knowledge, ideas, challenges and solutions to continually improve programme performance. You will look to strengthen organisational awareness and capacity of effective MERLI systems by applying your in-depth knowledge and understanding of key development effectiveness principles for best-practice and results-based management and advocacy.

The PQM role plays a major part in achieving the FHFNZ purpose and vision across the Pacific region, in particular through support to our strategic framework and planning.

What you bring to the role

You will have at least 5 years' experience in a programme quality related role, preferably with an international development, humanitarian or charitable agency. You are passionate about key aspects of programme quality, including MERLI and enthusiastic about helping others to understand and apply these principles to their work. You will have an in-depth experience and understanding of the broader PQ functions, and how they effectively contribute to increased programme impact. You will have team leadership/management experience and your exceptional communication skills and natural ability to lead and to listen will see you effectively run a high performing team. You will have the confidence to plan, design, coordinate, make key decisions, engage with others, facilitate skills building and capacity strengthening across all relevant areas of programme quality.
